Jo Cox – a modern day superhero

Our mission at the BDLN has always been to celebrate incredible people. This, for us, usually means talking about interesting and successful accountants, lawyers and entrepreneurs. However, given the recent tragic events in West Yorkshire, we wanted to take a moment to recognise the contribution that Jo Cox made both here and abroad and to pay our respects to her and her family.

MP Jo Cox was a rising star in the firmament of Westminster; an MP who cared deeply about her constituents and died doing her public duty at the heart of our democracy, representing the people she was elected to serve. She was highly principled, compassionate and intelligent.

Her husband paid tribute to her with these special words, ‘Jo believed in a better world and she fought for it everyday of her life with energy, and a zest for life that would exhaust most people. Jo would have no regrets about her life. She lived every day of it to the full.’

Their children will now grow up without a mum, but, as they grow older they will be immensely proud of her and what she achieved during her tragically short term in office as she listened, she heard and she made a difference.
