5 must see places for 2018

So, can you believe it? We are almost one month in…337 days left to enjoy whatever 2018 has to offer. The world is a big and beautiful place so why not set your sights on some incredible trips this year. Here are some of our top travel tips if you fancy travelling somewhere a bit different…

1. Cambodia

The majestic Hindu temple at Anghor Wat in Cambodia is the largest religious monument in the world. Dating back to the seventh century, it took 30 years to build and it’s ageless, timeless and precious.  Synonymous with Cambodia, it features on their national flag and tells the story of heaven and hell. It is majestic, beautiful and eerie. It’s overrun with giant creeper fig trees of Lara Croft tomb raider fame and parrots and monkeys bring the canopy above to life. It is most definitely on a par with Machu Piccchu and Petra for taking your breath away.

My top tip: Hire a bicycle and a guide. Arrive before dawn. Rest up at midday and return for the matchless sunset.

2. Azores

Set in the middle of the Atlantic, Sao Miguel is the largest of the Portuguese Azores archipelago. It’s best known for its twin crater lakes it is an ideal spot for romantics. It is said that when a green eyed princess and a blue eyed shepherd were banned from seeing one another by their families, they cried enough tears to fill both lakes.

My top tip: If you want to get up close and personal with whales, then this is one of the most affordable places I have ever come across

3. Utah

Less well-known than the Grand Canyon and much smaller is the Antelope slot Canyon in Utah. Its awe-inspiring siena sandstone walls and natural beauty will leave you speechless as the sunlight above streams down through the narrow openings.

My top tip: Go in spring or early summer of you want to catch the famous beam of lights

4. Nusa Lembongan

A 30-minute boat ride from Bali – Nusa Lembongan is arguably more beautiful than its more illustrious neighbour. The clear blue waters are perfect for surfing and drift diving. Idyllic mangrove forests, seaweed farms, and tranquil beaches make it a veritable island paradise.

My top tip: Go this year as more and more tourists are discovering this surreal place, so it won’t be deserted for long!

5. Chile

Chile is definitely my hot spot for 2018. The wild beauty of Patagonia and the Atacama Desert are must-see destinations. You will be wowed by the wonder of nature on such an epic scale. Visit Tierra Patagonia — a stunning hotel set on the edge of Lake Sarmiento — and Alto Atacama — known for its spectacular views for stargazing as it has the clearest skies in the Southern Hemisphere.

Top tip: October to March are the warmest and most accessible months.

So…Go, travel, enjoy and let us know what you think!
